I think the cool tool, dropbox, would be very beneficial for a classroom. It will definitely help with organization as a teacher. It will allow us to access documents without having to constantly search through e-mails and save on multiple computers. Dropbox could also be used for substitution. This will allow me to get information and materials needed for class to a substitute. This will allow my students with effective learning even when I am not able to come in for class.

Ch. 7 book quotes
"As education becomes more tailored to people's interests and abilities, the kind of competitiion between students found in school will likely diminish." (pg. 110)
This is true because when people have the same interests, it alleviates any differences they may have and provide a better learning environment. It will also allow students to spread out rather than having such a diverse group of studetns with different interests and abilities. It'll become much easier to teach students with less diverse interests and abilities.
"But people are not going to learn much unless they take resoponsibility for thier own learning." (pg. 111)
Since education is becoming more reliant on parents and the individual rather than the state, it is very important that the student starts to take responsibility for their own learning. This will allow them to continue learning for lifelong learning and skills.
"Technology holds the promise for engaging students in deep learning and pushing students to become the best-educated people they can be." (pg. 111)
I like this quote because technology does give us a more engaging way to learn with all of it's possibilities. Therefore, we can have a deeper learning experience and understanding to better our education.

Ch. 6 book quotes
"In the present lifelong-learning era, responsibility for education is shifting away from the state and back to the parents (for younger children) and to the individual (for teenagers and adults)." (pg. 92)
It is interesting to be a part of this lifelong-learning era because we now have medical advancements that allows us to have a longer lifespan which means a longer time to compete with jobs. Therefore, people are forced to continue their education to compete against others for jobs.
"So learning how to learn and learning how to find useful resources are becoming the most important goals of education." (pg. 95)
This quote is very true. With technology becoming more and more easily accessible, it can provide us with continuous knowledge as long as we have the skills to use it. That is why how to learn and learning how to find useful resources are so important goals.
"When learners select programs of study based on their interests, then the values that guide learner interestsbecome integrated into the education experience." (pg. 96)
When students choose a course that they want to learn, they tend to be more invested in their learning. This provides themselves with a good learning environment because they want to learn and participate since their interests are being used.

Ch. 5 book quotes
"The seeds of a new education system can be seen in the explosive growth of home schooling, workplace learning, distance education, adult education, learning centers, educational television and videos, computer-based learning software, technical certifications, and Internet cafes." (pg. 66)
I completely agree with this statement. Everyday we are seeing more opportunities for education outside of a school or classroom. This gives us the control of what we learn, how we learn, and when we learn. That is why many people are looking into using technology for their education. It is much more convenient for their life style.
"However, the Internet is pushing new kinds of intereactive distance education at both the K-12 and collegiate level." (pg. 75)
Many teachers are using the advantages of technology to provide students with more 24/7 learning. This idea involves interactive distance education. I feel this will be interesting to watch progress over the years.
"With this perspective, games and gaming can be a source for inspiration in building more effective learning environments." (pg. 84)
Games and gaming is a great way for students to be more engaged in their learning. That is why many teachers find games that correlate to the lesson plan. The learning environment becomes more effective when the students are engaged in their learning.

Ch. 4 book quotes
"Frederick Carlton argued that there were only three possible ways to occupy children in the cities:1) working in factories, 2) getting into trouble in the streets, and 3) learning in schools." (pg. 54)
I completely agree with this quote. I feel that school is a huge reason for preventing kids from getting into trouble or being put in a dangerous environment. That is why schools provide extra-curricular activities to provide even more opportunities to prevent students from getting into trouble.
"There was a further goal to provide the entire population with the skills and knowledge needed to be productive workers, so that the nation as a whole would prosper." (pg. 60)
I like this quote because not only did it pertain to back then, but it also applies now. We provide children with education to allow them to succeed in the future.
"In particular, there is more and more demand for people to be thinkers and lifelong learners, since technology is rapidly replacing people in the routine jobs of the society." (pg. 64)
This quote is very true. Jobs are constantly being replaced by technology because it is faster and more cost effective. Therefore, we need to provide our workplace with creative thinking that computers and other technology won't be able to provide.

Ch. 3 book quotes
"Teachers may lack the training or the will to change their instruction to fit the new curriculum, which may mean that greater numbers of students fail, resulting in parents clamoring to put back the old curriculum." (pg. 34)
This is important because some schools are pushing teachers to use technology before they are ready or feel comfortable. This creates poor and ineffective teaching so the students are not benefiting from learning.
"Even though the costs of computers and network connections have declined considerably in recent years, cost is still a serious barrier to these technologies becoming central to schooling." (pg. 37)
This really is a huge barrier that prevents many schools from advancing technologically. It will most likely be a barrier for a long time as well. I feel this problem will never subside because technology is constantly advancing, which means new technology will always be available and at a price.
"Teachers bring many things to learning that computers can never match." (pg. 40)
Computers can't show students enthusiasm or compassion. These characteristics help give students motivation at school. Therefore, teachers enhance student learning just as much as technology and can have a bigger impact.

Ch. 2 book quotes
"Internet communication may invovle email, social network sites, chat rooms, video conferencing, and shared workspaces: Students need to learn to communicate in all these different contexts." (pg. 13)
I feel this quote is so significant because I find myself juggling all of these different internet communication contexts. These multiple different communication contexts are becoming more of a demand in our technological advancing world. Students will need to learn these different types of communication to become more successful.
"The notion of 'just-in-time learning' is that whenever you need to learn something in order to accomplish a task, you can find out what you need to know." (pg. 14)
This quote is humorus to me because my family developed a saying on when we don't know an anwer to a question. We always say "google it." This is my family's way of "just-in-time learning".
"Technology enthusiast envision schools where students are working on realistic tasks and adults play a supportive role to guide them to new activities and help them when they encounter problems." (pg. 29)
This quote is a good example of guided discovery. This is a good teaching method and allows the student to use their own thinking to figure out a rule or solution with help if needed.

Using Technology Lesson Plan
My group put a lot of effort into collaborating ideas to design and create the lesson plan that incorporated technology and cooperative learning. We did our lesson plan for 8th grade biology on mitosis. It was a lot of fun coming up with ideas and doing research for ideas as well. This lesson plan impacts my future teaching because it shows that you want to implement many different learning strategies into a lesson, that way it becomes more effective for the students' learning.
